Talking and Me

This morning after a good night’s sleep, I was chirpy as a sparrow. An hour after hearing my nonstop blabber, my Husband looked at me and asked ‘ Ana, Don’t you think you talk a little too much?’That’s when I realized I actually do talk a lot. When I am in a good mood I can chatter away about anything and everything under the sun. People close to me are usually the recipients of my talkative mood. I know I bore them at times …can’t help it though

But I can’t talk with everybody. Put me in a roomful of unknown people and I can’t barely get beyond ‘hi’ or ‘hello’…I can talk only with people I am comfortable with…I can’t just open up to people and talk witty and smart. For me getting comfortable with people is a process, slow and cautious. I usually hang out in a group listening in to their conversation, figuring out who is on the same wave length as I am, then I talk to the person one on one…That way I am more confident…

I believe talking is connecting .I talk because I want to share my opinions, worries, excitement & joy…I think talking about things makes it easier to sort it out rather than process the same thing over and over in your head…it’s so much fun to share your excitement with a friend…it’s so much comforting to cry on a friends shoulder about your broken heart…Bitching about a nasty girl with your girlfriends can be such a satisfying experience…gossiping can sometimes add spice to otherwise boring life( Not too much of it.. But it’s fun to do it once in a while)…

I talk and I talk a lot…It a stress buster for me…Luckily I have colleagues in office who are equally talkative …God bless their talkative souls…A husband who is quiet but usually doesn’t mind the chatter box in me and parents who can give me stiff competition in my talkativeness…

Don’t forget to get your ear plugs the next time you visit our home…

The Important Things in Life

This is a story I read somewhere and found it extremely motivational..It is so very essential to get your priorities right and know what’s really important …

Here’s the story:

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, about 2 inches in diameter.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He then asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous “Yes.”

“Now,” said the professor, “I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The rocks are the important things – your family, your partner, your health, your children – things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter – like your job, your house, your car.

The sand is everything else. The small stuff.”

“If you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued “there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.

Take care of the rocks first – the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”

Don’t quit

This is a poem that gives me inspiration to keep on going when the going gets tough. I hope you like it too.

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,

When the road you’re trudging seems all uphill,

When the funds are low and the debts are high,

And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,

When care is pressing you down a bit,

Rest, if you must, but don’t you quit.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a failure turns about,

When he might have won had he stuck it out;

Don’t give up though the pace seems slow–

You may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than,

It seems to a faint and faltering man,

Often the struggler has given up,

When he might have captured the victor’s cup,

And he learned too late when the night slipped down,

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out–

The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,

And you never can tell how close you are,

It may be near when it seems so far,

So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit–

It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit.

I like Big

Don’t let your mind wander (Stop it perverts!!!), the title is a literal translation of the currently most talked about soap on Indian television ‘Bade Achhae Lagatey Hai’. Ever since I heard of it I have been wondering if the title refers to the big fat male lead Mr. Ram Kapoor whose is referred to as Mr. Kapoor by his petite wife in any given situation.

I watched a few episodes just because my mum was watching it and there wasn’t a better option. I found it ridicululously stupid .I mean how do u justify a couple in say their late thirties or forties behaving so naively about what a married couple does .But after a lot of episodes they get down to business and for the first time such a steamy scene is shown in an Indian Television soap. Unfortunately when that particular episode was screened I was stuck between my parents who didn’t know how to react and then out of nowhere the frozen me spoke aloud ‘Won’t his big tummy come in between?’My parents went beet root red. It was very funny and super embarrassing at the same time.

The next day that was the hot discussion topic amongst us girls in office. The scene had ‘Jodha Akbar’ song in background. We burst out laughing just comparing this fat guy with hairs coming out of his ears making out with his wife to Hritik in Jodha Akbar. (Oh!!! I am drooling just thinking about Hritik!!! ) Priya (the lead actress) was dressed in a barely there blouse with a sexy red sari all ready for the action. Hah!!!Scandalous!!!

A colleague of mine told me that she overheard a lady telling her friend that her twelve year old daughter after watching the serial said ‘ Aaj Papa ki to waat hai’…We laughed and laughed and laughed.

Overall the day was well spent gossiping, laughing and generally having fun all thanks to the serial.

Five Places I Want To Revisit

When you travel there are places which keep you calling you back. They never leave you even when you leave from there.

I am making a list of the places I have fallen in love with and would love to go back there.

Lake Wanaka, New Zealand

It’s a place which gives you the freedom to do your own thing with spectacular alpine mountains and a pristine blue lake as a backdrop. I had visited the place with my parents and found it breath taking and now want to go there for a leisurely second honeymoon with my husband. It’s the most beautiful place I have ever been to till now

Image

Masai Mara, Kenya

Masai Mara was dream come true for an animal lover like me. I think it’s the finest wildlife reserve on this planet. The gently rolling grasslands ensure that the abundant wildlife is never out of sight. That’s a place where I don’t mind getting up and ready at 4 am just so that I don’t miss the lions drinking water.Oh it was amazing!!! I so want to visit it again and this time during the great wildebeest migration period when it would be like watching the Discovery Channel live. And I also want to take the early morning Hot Air Balloon ride which we had missed the earlier time. The list of reasons to return to Mara Simba Lodge in Masai Mara is endless. Somebody please sponsor my trip .I soooo wanna go.

Fox glacier, New Zealand

Again New Zealand …I have absolutely completely fallen in love with the country. Fox Glacier Township is high up in the Alpine Mountains near the Westland National Park. Serene and post card like .Ohhh it’s heavenly!!!When I go back I want to do the Glacier trek and also the helicopter ride which I had missed earlier because of bad weather.

Bangkok, Thailand

Bangkok is a street shopper’s paradise. It’s like a town full of linking roads and Colaba causeways. mumbaites would understand my fascination to these places. I bought a bag full of things – clothes, shoes, bags, make up everything and anything during my last trip there. So much that my parents have almost banned me from going there ever again but then I have an evil gleam in my eyes every single time Bangkok is mentioned. I want to go there with my girl friends and Shop Shop & Shop and also see those lovely temples I have seen in other people’s pics.(Actually I spent my entire time in my last trip in malls) sigh!!!

Yes but now if I go Temples are a must visit.

Delhi,India

Yes our own capital city holds a special place in my heart. I have always been fascinated by the place. It’s a place that’s chaotic yet has an underlined order to it. It’s an amazing mix of old and new things. I have been there long long back and now I am eager to see the changes that have taken place since then. I want to travel in the metro, visit the famous Lotus Temple, shop at Karol Baug and zillion other interesting places. Visiting India Gate is also a must do in my itinerary. Also when it comes to Delhi who can forget the delicious Parathas and amazing Chicken tandoori..Yummy!!! The thought of all that food makes my mouth water.
